History
Avery was born into a humble home, raised for the first four years of his life on a rural farm, he'd help his parents, grandparents and several siblings tend to the animals and fields. Though he was always different, refusing to kill or eat any animal since he a very young age, his mother watched him cry over a hen she'd dispatched for dinner. Having broken the birds neck it had been a quick death. Yet Avery, whom was but a toddler at the time, wept and clutched the animal to his chest, hugging it's lifeless form and sobbing. When stooping down to retrieve the dead avian, she heard a clucking, low and behold the chicken was alive. This was when she knew her son was no ordinary boy, promptly taking him to the nearest city in the hope of finding a kings mage, that is when Avery's life changed forever.
History continued
Plucked from his quiet life at the tender age of four, he was put through years of rigorous studying to become the apprentice of the royal sorcerer and apothecary, soon his abilities surpassed the elders and his potential was recognized by the king himself. The ruler wished to use Avery's abilities as a weapon against invading foes, but the boy refused to ever use his powers to purposely harm another and instead insisted on being a healer for the wounded men of battle. For three centuries he served in the monarchy's military, shipped out to every battle, witnessing the horror of war over and over, returning home and finding his family or friends dead due to plague or famine, the torment ripped his fragile heart open time and time again. He finally asked to resign from his position in the kings army, wanting to peacefully retire to the country, but the new ruler was bitter and paranoid that another country may try to steal his precious asset. That night he ordered an assassination attempt on the magic wielders life. Three cloaked figures swarmed him from behind as the boy walked through the narrow, shadowed city streets, light glimmering off their blades as they all slashed and maimed him in tandem until his body slumped lifelessly to the floor. Believing him to have perished, they dumped Avery's body several miles from the royal city and left the evidence of their crime to be eaten by the wild beasts. Avery awoke on the edge of a forest, surrounded by a bed of wildflowers, the flora had grown overnight, since this day he's remained in said forest, having created a beautiful oasis in the heart of the dense woodland, a spell cast over the area to hide his existence from the mortal gaze.
